Roland Sabates has devoted his entire career to developing creative tax solutions for international clients. After finishing law school he focused exclusively in taxation, managing a large tax research team with H&R Block's Tax Institute.
He worked with H&R Block to establish a virtual tax preparation practice serving American clients in over 175 countries, placing particular emphasis on making the remote transaction as painless as possible for their client base. He left the company to establish a law practice dedicated to assisting the expat community in fall 2016.
Roland has unique experience navigating the pension and investment landscape encountered by American expatriates. He has specialized knowledge of U.S. income tax treaties, passive foreign investment companies, controlled foreign corporations and partnerships, foreign grantor trusts, foreign tax credit, and foreign information reporting obligations.
Roland assisted countless clients in catching up with their U.S. tax and FBAR requirements and enter IRS voluntary disclosure programs. While focused primarily in taxation, his experience working with cross border business transactions, estate planning, and immigration law allows him to deliver a complete solution to his expat client base.
